Appeal to the United Nations General Assembly: A New Paradigm for the Common Aims of Mankind!

by Helga Zepp-LaRouche

It is crucial that the General Assembly of the United Nations now convening in New York, build on the progress that the G20 Summit has achieved under China’s leadership. The course has been set toward a new financial architecture, and the chance is greater than ever that all nations can participate in the building of the New Silk Road on the basis of win-win cooperation, and that the productivity of the world economy will rise on the basis of innovation, while poverty and the consequences of war are overcome. The main problem, however, is that the West continues to cling to the status quo of a uni-polar world and the neo-liberal financial system, although both of those objectives have long been unachievable. The rise of Asia signifies that one nation cannot set the rules, but that solutions must be found through dialogue and negotiation. The neo-liberal system is in the throes of an existential crisis.

The first twin of globalization—the policy of regime-change and alleged humanitarian interventions—has cost the lives of millions of people, brought untold suffering to millions more, destroyed entire regions, created the breeding grounds for the spread of terrorism, and set off huge waves of refugees. The wars against Iraq and Afghanistan alone, according to the study of Professor Neta Crawford of Brown University, have cost five trillion dollars—and for what result?

The second twin of globalization—the system of maximum profit for the TBTF banks, which are supposedly “too big to be allowed to fail”—has led to an unbearable gap between rich and poor. And if certain banks have to pay the full sum of their fines for criminal methods, they must declare bankruptcy because their capital base is insufficient. Hence, a new meltdown threatens, with even more catastrophic consequences than the collapse of Lehman Brothers in 2008, now that central bank instruments are exhausted and no longer effective.

In that context, two reports released in Great Britain offer an extraordinary opportunity to re-assess and correct the current policy. After the Chilcot Report, which laid the blame on Tony Blair for the illegal Iraq war which was built on lies, a commission of the British Parliament has levelled no less scathing charges against former Prime Minister David Cameron for the war in Libya, which was carried out on “erroneous assumptions” and led to “political and economic collapse, inter-militia and inter-tribal warfare, humanitarian and migrant crises, widespread human rights violations, the spread of Gaddafi regime weapons across the region and the growth of ISIL in North Africa.”

On the role of the United States, the report states that “The United States was instrumental in extending the terms of Resolution 1973 beyond the imposition of a no-fly zone to include the authorisation of ‘all necessary measures’ to protect civilians. In practice, this led to the imposition of a ‘no-drive zone’ and the assumed authority to attack the entire Libyan Government command and communications network.”

That same overall review of the current policy should, of course, include the implications of the 28 pages of the official Joint Congressional Inquiry Report, which deals with the circumstances of the attacks of September 11, 2001, as well as the JASTA bill, which necessitate a completely new investigation.

In light of the horrendous suffering this failed policy has caused: the millions of dead and injured; the traumatized children and soldiers (including in the nations waging war); the destruction of cities, villages, infrastructure and irreplaceable cultural wealth; it is not only appropriate, but a moral obligation for the countries that took part in these wars in the different “coalitions of the willing,” to examine the political process in their parliaments and to fully participate in the reconstruction of the regions that have been devastated. This will not bring the dead back to life, but the admission of guilt and a genuine change of policy towards development would give the people living there today hope for a future.

The status quo cannot be maintained. As a result of both twins of globalization, there has been an enormous loss of trust among the population in the trans-Atlantic world. Right-wing populist and right-extremist parties are massively gaining strength; the conditions of the 1930s threaten to reappear in a new form; the European Union is crumbling; and the refugee crisis will not be solved by securing the external EU borders, but only relocated and removed from the news. The U.S. economy is collapsing, while the society is more than ever torn and overtaken by violence. Either this process will lead to an escalation of the confrontation with Russia and China, and to the extermination of mankind in a great war, or the leading politicians in the West will have the moral integrity to correct the errors of the past.

The Solution

To come back to the positive proposition in the beginning of this appeal, the course has been set toward a way out of this crisis of civilization since the G20 summit. Not only has China presented a new level of cooperation based not on geopolitics, but rather on a policy in the mutual interest of all, it has also pledged to industrialize Africa and other low-income countries, an approach that could both solve the refugee crisis and eliminate the terrorist environment. Clearly, the extension of the New Silk Road to the Middle East and Africa both requires and will bring about growth rates of 7 to 10%.

And just as promptly, the Club of Rome stepped in with a new report under the cynical title in the German translation of “One Percent Is Enough,” which would lead in consequence to population reduction, a fascist policy for which the Club of Rome is infamous. The UN recently stressed that Africa needs a growth rate of at least 7-8%. When one of the authors of the Club of Rome report, the Norwegian Jorgen Randers, comes out with the absurd statement, “My daughter is the most dangerous animal in the world,” because she consumes 30 times more energy than a girl in a developing country, it serves to show on what image of man the Club of Rome bases its argument, i.e. on a bestial one.

But man, in contrast to all other creatures, is able to use his creative potential to continually discover new insights into the laws of the universe; this is called scientific progress. The unlimited process of perfecting the human mind has a correspondence in the laws of the physical universe, which develops to ever higher energy-flux densities. We are not in a closed system on the Earth—as the Club of Rome and similar organizations claim—rather, our planet is an integral part of the Solar System, the galaxy and the universe, about which space research is discovering more and more. This research yields many advantages for Earth itself, and it is therefore fantastic that China announced at the G20 summit, that it would share with developing countries the most advanced research results for their space and lunar exploration projects.

Mankind has arrived at a crossroads. If we continue to walk the well-trodden paths with a policy of “more of the same,” the world threatens to come apart. If, on the contrary, we can agree on the common aims of mankind—an economic and financial order that serves the well-being of all mankind, and which makes possible a decent life for every person on this Earth; the securing of raw materials and energy through higher technologies such as thermonuclear fusion; the exploration of space to safeguard our planet and a renaissance of classical cultures—then we will be able to usher in a new, better era in the history of our species.

The General Assembly of the United Nations is the fitting place, where the new paradigm of our one mankind, based on that which comes before all the differences among nations, must be established and celebrated.

Traitor Obama Stalls on JASTA: Impeachment Is Nigh!

By Jeff Steinberg

After the House of Representatives followed the U.S. Senate by passing the JASTA (Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act) bill by unanimous voice vote, President Barack Obama has announced that he will veto the bill—setting up a head-on confrontation between the President on the one side, and the U.S. Congress, the 9/11 families and the American people on the other. JASTA would allow the survivors of 9/11 and the families of the 2,997 people killed in the attacks on the Pentagon and the World Trade Center to finally have their day in court to confront the Saudi Monarchy for their role in supporting the terrorists.

President Obama has so far announced his plans to veto JASTA, which arrived on his desk on Monday, Sept. 12, the day after the 15th anniversary of the worst terrorist attack on US soil in history. He has ten business days—until Sept. 23—to either sign the bill or send a veto message to Congress. Already, leading Senators and Representatives from both parties have made clear that they have lined up more than enough votes to obtain a 2/3 majority in both Houses and thus override an Obama veto. The White House is teaming up with the Saudis and other states of the Gulf Cooperation Council to arm-twist members of the Senate and House to change their votes and accept the President’s veto.

Terry Strada, a leading spokesperson for the 9/11 families (her husband Tom Strada was killed in the World Trade Center on 9/11) has announced that there will be a protest outside the White House on Tuesday, Sept. 20 to demand that Obama either signs the bill into law or casts his veto to allow Congress to do its patriotic duty and override his shameful action.

Lyndon LaRouche commented on Sept. 15 that he expects Obama to veto JASTA “because he is an agent of the British System.” He takes his orders from the British Monarchy, and London has as much to lose in an honest trial in U.S. Federal Court as their Saudi underlings. A prominent member of the British House of Commons has written recently in the Daily Telegraph that under JASTA, the British Monarchy can be sued as well as the Saudis, because of London’s longstanding support for the very same terrorists behind 9/11.

The evidence of the Anglo-Saudi hand is overwhelming. The 28 pages from the original Joint Congressional Inquiry into 9/11, co-chaired by former Senator Bob Graham, clearly revealed the central role of Prince Bandar bin-Sultan in the 9/11 attacks. Bandar, who was Ambassador from Saudi Arabia to the United States at the time of the 9/11 attacks, and was so close to President George W. Bush that he was nicknamed “Bandar Bush,” financed at least two of the 9/11 hijackers via Saudi intelligence officers in the San Diego area, and he had ties to top Al Qaeda leaders, as revealed in the 28 pages.

Bandar is himself a British agent. In 1985, he and Margaret Thatcher engineered the Al Yamamah oil-for-arms deal, through which the British and the Saudis amassed a secret, offshore slush fund in excess of $100 billion, to finance global terrorism, regime change, and assassinations.

In a speech at a major conference on the 9/11 attacks at the Cooper Union campus in Manhattan on Sept. 10, EIR senior editor Jeffrey Steinberg pointed out that Bandar was no Wahhabi fundamentalist. “He had a greater affinity for single malt scotch and Cuban cigars than for Islam,” Steinberg told the audience of 300 9/11 activists. “Bandar was acting as an agent of the Saudi Monarchy in providing the critical support to the hijackers, and he was doing it on behalf of the Bush-Cheney Administration,” Steinberg declared. He reminded the audience that in Jan. 2001, Lyndon LaRouche’s national spokesperson, Debra Freeman, had testified against the nomination of John Ashcroft as Attorney General, on the grounds that the incoming Bush-Cheney Administration was committed to imposing a police-state dictatorship on the United States and would look for the first opportunity to stage a Reichstag Fire incident to get to that goal. “That was a forecast that, unfortunately, came true nine months later,” Steinberg said. “Bush and Cheney suppressed the 28 page chapter, that showed the Saudi Monarchy’s hand behind the 9/11 hijackers, in order to make sure nothing stood in the way of their plans to invade Iraq and overthrow Saddam Hussein.”

In addition to passing JASTA by a veto-proof majority, there are other urgent actions that must be taken to finally get to the full truth about 9/11. There are literally millions of pages of government documents from the investigation into 9/11 that remain classified to this day. A Federal Judge in Florida is reviewing 80,000 pages of long-suppressed FBI files on another high-ranking Saudi businessman who hosted three of the 9/11 hijackers, including alleged ringleader Mohammed Atta. To date, no documents have been released on the 9/11 cells that were operating in Paterson, NJ or Herndon, VA in the year leading to the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks. Sen. Bob Graham, Rep. Walter Jones and other leaders of the fight for the truth about 9/11 have demanded that the government release all of these secret files. As Graham told an audience at the National Press Club in Washington, the release of the 28 pages “popped the cork on the bottle, and now we must see the entire contents.”

The American people want the truth to come out. During the weekend of Sept. 9–12, approximately 4,000 people turned out for memorial concerts in New York City and Morristown, NJ where the Schiller Institute NYC Community Chorus performed Mozart’s Requiem, to commemorate and honor those who lost their lives on 9/11 and the many thousands of first-responders who have since died or contracted grave illnesses as the result of their heroic response to the 9/11 tragedy. For those heroes and for all people, the truth about those horrible events has no statute of limitation.

The full wrath of the American people must now be directed at President Obama, to force him, despite his actual loyalties, to do the right thing and sign JASTA into law. If Obama is so filled with treasonous hatred for the United States that he issues a veto, the Congress must stand up with a single voice and pass the measure by an overwhelming majority—and then take the proper Constitutional action against Obama.

If Barack Obama does go ahead and vetoes JASTA, this should lead to his immediate impeachment. Any President who puts the interests of the British and Saudi Monarchies ahead of those of the American people is prima facie guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors and must be immediately removed from office. Otherwise, the Constitution itself loses all meaning.

WAKE UP AMERICA! Time To Go To The Far Side Of The Moon

by Megan Beets

“All mankind has a commitment, an innate commitment, to create knowledge of the future… All mankind must subdue their passions to conform to what the future of mankind represents. The point is the understanding of the individual to reach and achieve ability of insight into what the future species must do: the improvement of the human species! Lifting the human species out of its ordinary existence, taking it out of its mediocrities.” —Lyndon LaRouche, September 13, 2016

Two years from now, China will accomplish something which has never been done by any nation, ever, and they will do it for the only reason it is ever done: for the future of all mankind. In late 2018, a lander and rover will descend from lunar orbit to a destination on the far side of the Moon.

Lyndon LaRouche has pointed to this commitment by China as one of the most important things occurring among mankind today. This is especially true in light of the fact that the entire trans-Atlantic system of geopolitics and its accompanying world of speculative finance has finally collapsed, giving us the opportunity to replace it with a new and just world system, based on new principles for the common aims of all.

But why the far side of the Moon? And what does this mean for mankind’s future?

A Hidden Visage

Our Moon rotates such that it always presents only one of its faces to the Earth. This is the hemisphere we call the near side. The other hemisphere, which is never visible from the Earth, is known as the far side, and was an object of mystery and speculation for almost the entirety of man’s existence. It wasn’t until the middle of the 20th century in 1959 that we got the first-ever photograph of the lunar far side, taken by the Soviet probe Luna 3. During the 1968 Apollo 8 mission, human eyes first glimpsed the Moon’s hidden hemisphere, and it was assumed that very soon humanity would walk on first the near, and then the far side.
But nearly 50 years later, neither human nor robotic foot has touched the far side, and we have not yet begun to unlock its mysteries.

Lunar Asymmetry

The lunar far side is a very different place than the side which faces the Earth, and we do not know why. What we do know, however, is that the Moon is not simply an object in nearby space; it is humanity’s first step off of Earth and into an extraterrestrial existence, and the asymmetry between the near and far sides will provide a crucial window into the unseen and yet-unknown processes which govern and organize our Solar system.

Beginning with the visible differences between the Moon’s hemispheres, the dark patches, otherwise known as seas or maria, which cover much of the near side—and create the image of the Man in the Moon—are created by volcanic flood events. The far side is almost completely devoid of the signs of such volcanic activity, and the cause of this asymmetry is a total mystery. Additionally, the far side south pole region is dominated by one of the largest impact basins known in the Solar system, the South Pole–Aitken Basin, which may allow us to peer into the deepest layers of the Moon’s geography, perhaps even to the lunar mantle. What might this tell us about the Earth, the Sun, and the process which created our Solar system?

One of the most exciting features of the lunar far side is that it is a completely unique and unparalleled site for astronomical observations. Each time mankind has observed the sky in new wavelengths, and with more precise instrumentation, we have encountered complete shocks and surprises in the kinds of phenomena we observe in the heavens. To date, humanity has been able to observe the sky in all parts of the electromagnetic spectrum except for the very-low frequency (VLF) radio range (less than 30 MHz). Phenomena of the Solar system, galaxy, and galaxies beyond ours which appear in this range cannot whisper their secrets to those on Earth, because those frequencies are blocked by Earth’s atmosphere and the radio noise which permeates Earth’s space environment in which our satellites orbit. Placing a radio observatory on the lunar far side, shielded from Earth’s radio noise, will allow us to see the universe with VLF radio eyes for the first time, and may tell us of stellar and galactic processes that we currently cannot imagine.

Exactly those types of anomalies observed in the heavens provoked a powerful sense of wonder within the great genius Johannes Kepler, driving him to hypothesize new, previously unknown physical principles which give rise to the motion and organization of the Solar system. Opening up humanity’s access to encounter such anomalies and challenge our current beliefs, is precisely why China is taking these first steps today.

Fuel for Fusion Power

One more critical feature of China’s outlook for lunar exploration and development comes from its future-oriented commitment to mankind’s growth and progress, on Earth and beyond.

It has been known for decades that the Moon is rich and abundant with the most advanced power source available to mankind: nuclear fusion, which is 10 million times more energy dense than fossil fuels. This fuel, Helium-3, can yield fusion reactions with higher energies than any other fusion fuel available, and yields unique products, e.g charged particles, which make it ideal for both electricity generation and rocket propulsion.

Helium-3 is a gift of the Sun and is distributed by the solar wind. It is extremely rare on Earth, since our magnetosphere and atmosphere block the solar wind from reaching the surface. However, the Sun has been depositing this powerful resource on the Moon’s surface for billions of years, where it sits, loosely held in the lunar soil, waiting to be harvested.

It is estimated that there is over 1 million tons of Helium-3 on the Moon. As put by Ouyang Ziyuan, father of the Chinese Lunar Program, “When obtaining nuclear power from helium-3 becomes a reality, the lunar resources can be used to generate electricity for more than 10,000 years for the whole world.”

Though mankind has not yet fully mastered the principles of nuclear fusion, we will. Our Moon will prove to be a critical power source for our continuing ability to develop and expand out into the Solar system—a scientific advancement to which China is already committed.

The First Steps

China’s 2018 Chang’e 4 mission will consist of three components: a relay satellite, a lander, and a rover. The satellite will be sent into its position first, stationed at a point behind the Moon (Lagrange Point 2) where both the far side surface and the Earth are visible, in order to relay communications from one to the other. The satellite will also monitor impacts on the lunar surface.

Once the satellite is in place, the Chang’e 4 lander, with its rover in tow, will be sent into a near-polar orbit around the Moon, and will descend to a landing site in the South Pole–Aitken Basin region. Here, the lander and rover will study the lunar soil and minerals of the far side—which has never been done—, analyze the radiation environment with an eye toward future manned landings, detect interaction between the sparse lunar atmosphere and the Solar and Earth plasma winds, and very importantly, they will make mankind’s very first VLF radio observations of the heavens.

Further underscoring the fact that this mission is one of international cooperation and progress for all mankind, instruments on the lander and rover are not all Chinese-made, but have been contributed by several nations. Even more to the point, China has offered use of its relay satellite—an indispensible piece of infrastructure—to any other nation planning operations on the far side.

Homo Extraterrestris: Finding Ourselves in Space

Unlike all animals, mankind does not evolve and develop automatically along with the biosphere. We advance by the voluntary creative interventions of the individuals who overthrow the beliefs of the past. The insight of genius towards newly discovered principles redefines mankind’s relationship with the world, and gives our species a higher power to cause change in, and give new organization to, the universe-at-large, e.g. our power over the atomic nucleus, and our soon-to-be power over the lunar far side.

This view of man is exemplified in China’s maiden voyage to the lunar far side which will be undertaken in just two short years. It is one which will open up a new era and create a new future for mankind, one in which the United States must contribute. It is time for Americans to break free from the malaise of the past decades, especially since the murder of President Kennedy, and reawaken the naturally human sense of wonder and dedication to the progress of the human species, a dedication which once characterized the very heart and soul of our nation. It is this United States which will join China in the creation of a new, previously impossible future for an even more powerful mankind.

9/11 2016: Manhattan, Mozart and the Power of Music

by Dennis Speed

New York City’s Bronx, Manhattan and Brooklyn held commemorations of the 15th anniversary of the destruction of the World Trade Center towers, featuring full-orchestra/choral performances of Mozart’s great Requiem in D Minor this past weekend. The New York Schiller Institute Community Chorus, founded by musician and former Congressional candidate Diane Sare in the aftermath of the killing of Staten Island’s Eric Garner and two Brooklyn police officers, and as a crucial component of the Manhattan Project initiated by Lyndon LaRouche in the fall of 2014, provided 150 singers for this purpose. These singers, almost all non-professionals, were part of a living memorial not only to the victims of the horrific events of that day, but also to the living dead still terrorized by the fact that the perpetrators of that 9/11 mass-murderous crime have never been brought to justice.

The Mozart Requiem presented at St. Joseph’s Co-Cathedral in Brooklyn was a particularly unique moment in American history, and not merely in music. This was for several reasons. The Requiem was performed as part of a full Catholic Mass, probably the first of its kind in the United States since January 1964, when a similar ceremony was conducted in honor of the slain John F. Kennedy at the request of his wife, Jacqueline, at Boston’s Cathedral of the Holy Cross. The difference with even that occasion, though, was that this September 11, though the Requiem was to be performed, the Mass was not itself a requiem Mass, because such a Mass cannot be performed on a Sunday, the day of Christ’s resurrection in the Christian faith. Sunday cannot be a liturgical day of death, but must needs be a day of affirmation of life. The “Gloria” from the Mozart Mass in D Minor, K. 65, was therefore added. The Mass also concluded with “Worthy Is The Lamb That Was Slain/Amen," the end of Handel’s Messiah, employed as the dismissal hymn.

This annual Brooklyn ceremony is dedicated to and attended by the firefighters of Battalion 57 of the Fire Department of New York, 23 of whose members had given their lives for their country on September 11, 2001. Hundreds of firefighters attended. The Tablet, the diocese newspaper, reported that, “Prior to the Mass, members of the Battalion, which includes five engine companies and one ladder company in Brooklyn, marched from Ground Zero in Manhattan, over the Brooklyn Bridge, to St. Joseph’s Co-Cathedral, making stops at several firehouses along the way. They carried FDNY flags, one for each of their fallen members. ‘For the firefighters, the journey to Brooklyn served to symbolize the return home of their fallen comrades,’ said Firefighter Thomas Callahan, who delivered opening remarks at the church.”

Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio and Msgr. Kieran Harrington concelebrated the Mass, attended by 1100-1200 people. Bishop DiMarzio’s homily was remarkable for its direct emphasis on the idea of forgiveness. He pointed out that the firefighter fulfills not only the New Testament admonition, “Greater love than this, no man hath, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” The firefighter does this for strangers, and even sometimes, his enemies, and he does that every day, as a vocation. The inclusion of the Requiem as part of the celebration of the Sunday Mass for September 11 was suggested by Msgr. Harrington.

The Brooklyn Reporter online newspaper said:

The Foundation for the Revival of Classical Culture presented a special performance of Mozart’s Requiem, a piece rarely performed during a Mass, according to the Diocese.

The Schiller Institute NYC Community Chorus, accompanied by a 42-piece orchestra and guest soloists, performed the Requiem at the “Verdi tuning” – a pitch that is mathematically consistent with sounds of the universe, making it an overall healing experience for listeners.

“Proper Verdi tuning allows for the most transparent blend of the human voice with the instruments, and thus, maximum sonority,” said Lynn Yen, the executive director of the Foundation for the Revival of Classical Culture. “To hear the Mozart Requiem at this pitch is to experience the transcendent power of sacred music—to experience the true glory of God and music.”

The Foundation for the Revival of Classical Culture sponsored the three New York City presentations of the piece, and one in Morristown, New Jersey.

The ensemble was directed by John Sigerson. Besides his skills as a vocalist and instrumentalist, Sigerson is the co-author of A Manual on Tuning and Registration, a 1992 book published by the Schiller Institute that argued persuasively for the Verdi tuning, also known as the scientific pitch. This pitch, a middle C equal to 256 cycles per second, is, contrary to the well-intended assertion in the Brooklyn Reporter, not mathematically, but physically consistent with the harmonic composition of the universe. This is a far more important, and controversial distinction than it might initially appear.

The following passage appears in the Foreword of the 1992 Music Manual:

“Take Kepler’s World Harmony as a point of reference. First, for the information of the person who has Alexander Pope’s ‘a little learning’ concerning physical-science matters, we emphasize that Isaac Newton did not ‘discover universal gravitation’.... In Newton’s schema, for example, the orbits of the planets and their moons can be situated at any distance from the Sun one might choose for situating a planet. One merely has to choose a mass and orbital velocity whose associated centrifugal force neatly balances the centripetal force, the gravitational ‘pull.’ In Kepler’s universe, this is not permitted. The number of possible orbits and orbital velocities is precisely determined. No orbits between any two of these determined paths is permitted. Kepler’s method permits the existence of no planetary orbits between those of Mercury and Venus, Venus and Earth, Earth and Mars, Mars and Jupiter, and so forth. Kepler requires one orbit between Mars and Jupiter, which Kepler assigns to ‘an exploded planet,’ i.e. the asteroid belt.” (Emphasis added)

The difference between Newton’s discredited, wrong, but still pervasive view of the universe, and that of Kepler, is that one is human, and the other not. As musician and physicist Albert Einstein once admonished his colleagues: “God does not play dice” with the universe. It was not an arbitrary decision to perform Mozart’s Requiem at the C=256 tuning. It is the only proper tuning for that piece, and for Classical music as a whole. Modalities change, and worldwide musical practice and forms are perhaps even unlimited, but there is, and can only be, one universal “musical” principle that generates world-harmony.

(The very opening cadence of Sigerson’s reading of the Mozart Requiem, as well as the entire "Introit" section, is a sweeping refutation of most other contemporary performances and even ideas about the piece.)

In expiating the ancient crime committed against the murdered Mozart, and his Requiem, by performing his music truthfully, the conceptual basis has, through these performances, thereby been laid for New Yorkers and Americans to actually correct the present crime—the murders at the World Trade Center, Pentagon, and in Pennsylvania—committed against the United States, and by derivative assassination, millions of others worldwide. It is, after all, the descendants and the employees of the post-1947 Congress for Cultural Freedom that formulated, funded, and carried out the crime of September 11, 2001.
