In this report, we summarize the current state of knowledge of the asteroids and comets which could potentially impact our planet, and currently existing proposals and capabilities to deflect them. We then present crucial considerations from the science of physical economy which underlie such a science-driver mission, along with the historical background of the SDI and SDE. We close with a report by Lyndon LaRouche, “Edward Teller Was Right at Erice: The Threat Against Mankind.”
