LAROUCHEPAC:
Today, a resolution demanding that Congress enact the LaRouche-initiated Homeowners and Bank Protection Act (HBPA) was introduced into the Tennessee House of Representatives. Tennessee thus becomes the tenth state legislature where the HBPA has been introduced, since the beginning of 2009. The others are Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, and West Virginia. While the bills in Indiana and South Dakota have been killed, there is intense activity, including recruiting of cosponsors, going on in all the other states.
In 2008, resolutions for the HBPA passed in the state houses of Rhode Island, Alabama, Mississippi, and Vermont, and in the state senate of Kentucky, as well as more than 90 cities. Blame for the failure of Congress to move on this groundswell of support for the only action that will halt foreclosures and protect the chartered banks, lies squarely on the shoulders of Rohatyn stooges Rep. Nancy Pelosi, Rep. Barney Frank, and Senator Chris Dodd.
HJR 146 was filed by State Representative Joe Towns (D-Memphis), an active Democrat, who has been the city chair of the Memphis delegation in the legislature. Towns has been a long time collaborator of the LaRouche movement, joining in numerous campaigns to protect the general welfare, including the campaign to save the Presidency during the Clinton impeachment, the effort to save the auto industry, and the campaigns to stop the appointment of Roberts and Alito to the Supreme Court.
There was also action today in Michigan, where the HBPA was filed as HR 35 in the legislature. A previous filing had been allowed to die, but a mobilization by the LaRouche youth movement and other state officials across the state of Michigan has led to the refiling. Resolutions in favor of the HBPA passed last year in at least 7 cities, including Detroit.
Other action in favor of the HBPA has occurred in city councils around the nation. The city of Albany, New York, passed a resolution for the HBPA on Feb. 20, as have five towns in southeast Texas, including Alamo. The HBPA was also endorsed by the Philippine-American Democratic Committee of Los Angeles. In addition, an HBPA resolution has been introduced in the Toledo City Council.
