LAROUCHEPAC:

Pennsylvania Cities Number 22, 23, 24, 25 and 26 (!) Pass the HBPA
January 9, 2008 • 5:45PM

26 Pennsylvania Municipalities have now passed the HBPA!  Here's a quick summary:

The Borough Council of Tyrone adopted a resolution Monday night modeled on the New Castle City Council resolution of November 8. Tyrone is located north of Altoona in Blair County, a strongly Republican area represented in Congress by Bill Shuster (R-09).

The City of Arnold is a former steel town on the Allegheny River in Westmoreland County— the Arnold City Council passed a resolution also modeled on New Castle.

The City of Clairton on the Monongehela River was known as the Coke Capital of the World, because of the famous Clairton Coke Works that serviced the Pittsburgh steel industry— the Clairton City Council took HR 418 word-for-word and endorsed the whole thing.  The Clairton City Manager assured an LPAC rep. that he will forward their resolution directly to the Congress and the President.

The Borough Council of Hamburg became the 25th Pennsylvania municipality to pass a resolution of support for the HBPA and HR 418.  Hamburg is in Berks County north of Reading, near the epicenter of the central PA mortgage fraud case and class action suit.

The Borough of Ambridge is the 26th Pennsylvania municipality to pass a resolution supporting the HBPA and HR 418.  Ambridge is a former steel town in Beaver County on the Ohio River, named after the American Bridge Company.  A Council member reported that his motion to adopt a resolution similar to New Castle's passed 7-0.

The foreclosure/banking crisis situation has heated up in Pennsylvania, especially western PA, with the NY Times article exposing Countrywide for fabricating documents in the bankruptcy case of a homeowner in the Pittsburgh area.  Also, Ohio-based National City Bank, cited by LPAC as needing protection under the HBPA, has over 200 branches all over western PA.
