Francis Boyle Warns of Thermonuclear War Devastation

In a Sept. 7 Progressive Radio News Hour interview, coinciding with Lyndon LaRouche's same-day interview with Alex Jones, Dr. Francis Boyle warned forcefully of the consequences of an attack on Iran or Syria, leading to thermonuclear war. Dr. Boyle warned that the Obama Administration and Israel are driving the world towards thermonuclear war. He cited a recent British think tank report estimating that an initial thermonuclear salvo, directed at Iran alone, would result in the immediate deaths of more than 2.8 million Iranians, radiation poisoning would kill an additional 6 million people, and large parts of the entire region would be iradiated, including areas where the United States maintains a large naval and air force presence. Dr. Boyle warned that the U.S. is poised to once again use nuclear weapons, which he described as "unconscionable." "Today the world is at a precipice of another world war," to be possibly triggered by an attack on Iran. He warned that tactical nuclear weapons are now fully integrated into U.S. military theater forces, and field commanders have full authority to determine whether to use them.

Clearly echoing repeated warnings by Lyndon LaRouche, Professor Boyle warned that, since the time of George W. Bush, the real target of American aggression has been Russia, not Iran or Syria. He warned that any attack on Iran would be a trigger for World War III. According to a news report by Stephen Lendman, Dr. Boyle declared, "Risking WWIII amounts to cocking a loaded gun at all humanity and squeezing. America threatens innocent people globally with mass extermination. Today Syria and Iran. Tomorrow nations anywhere on every continent. Russia and China comprise the final frontier. Risking armageddon is indefensible." Citing the United Nations Charter and the Nuremberg Codes, Dr. Boyle was quoted that, at issue is "planning, preparation, solicitation and conspiracy to commit Nuremberg crimes against peace, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and genocide." He concluded, as summarized by Lendman, "America and Israel comprise the greatest threats. Leadership in both countries reflect irresponsible, unconscionable governance. What greater priority than stopping them before it's too late. It's no idle threat. Their madness endangers everyone... Live free or perish in a radioactive wasteland. It could happen any time. Sustained preventive action is the only way to stop it. Reasoning with rogues doesn't work. In their face activism is called for."
