LAROUCHEPAC:
The destruction of the U.S. labor force, which can only be reversed by the LaRouche NAWAPA program, is ravaging every layer, through both layoffs and slashes in wages. This process, like that of the hyperinflationary financial breakdown which LaRouche has forecast as imminent, can also shortly reach a point of no return.
Take an overview of the workforce from 2007-2009. In that period, 7 million Americans lost jobs they'd had for more than 5 years, because the work just was phased out. As of January 2010, only 2.9 million of these had found new employment, and that at an average wage/salary loss of 20%. Among these ranks are the skilled operatives who are vital to the NAWAPA project: auto/machine-tool workers, construction workers and engineers, other engineers, and computer or software techs—putting aside those employed in finance and business administration.
The result of such layoffs has been a desperate rush for people to take any low-wage job available. This was reflected in two recent events: a job fair in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and one in Southfield, Michigan, geared specifically for those over 50. Both drew several thousand people applying for whatever they could get—with the biggest hirer being Wal-Mart.
