On June 20, 2010, LaRouchePAC and the LaRouche Youth Movement held a concert to celebrate the birthday of Robert Schumann.

This celebration came as the culmination of a multi-day series of workshops and pedagogical classes, many of which can be found on this site as well, in addition to being the product of much longer process of dedicated research and vocal training.

In this first part are opening remarks by Harley Schlanger, a short presentation on Robert Schumann and his circles from David Shavin; solo presentations of German Lieder written by Robert Schumann, such as Du bist wie eine Blume, Der Himmel hat eine Träne geweint, the full Dichterliebe song cycle, four pieces from Frauenliebe und Leben and Belshazar; all three movements of Beethoven's Cello Sonata Op. 69; a vocal quartet presentation of Schumann's Bänkelsänger Willie and Brahms' Der Abend; the chorus presented Schumann's Der König in Thule; and this first part ends with J. S. Bach's Bist du bei mir presented by Michelle Fuchs, and Mozart's Ave Verum Corpus presented by LYM Chorus. Lyndon LaRouche made some very intense personal remarks regarding the importance of the Ave and the LYM chorus sang it one more time.
