Obama and Congress Move Closer to Political Suicide
March 21, 2010 • 1:55PM

As of 8:30 Saturday evening, both the Congress and the Obama Administration itself seem poised to commit political suicide on Sunday, when the House of Representatives is scheduled to vote on the Senate health bill—and a package of so-called budget "reconciliation" measures. The Democratic leadership claims it has the votes to prevail—and held a mini-victory rally this afternoon with President Obama, who crowed about how the bill will cut costs dramatically, claimed that people will see, after the law is passed, "that nobody's pulling the plug on Granny."

During the course of the extensive Rules Committee debate, the most significant development was the fact that the Democrats backed down from their previously stated intention to evade a House vote on the Senate bill, and "deem" it passed, an action which had evoked a wave of protests over its unconstitutionality.

While 90 amendments to the Reconciliation bill, largely Republican, were submitted to the Rules Committee, it is not at all clear that Pelosi will allow any to be be taken up by the House. Some of these are substantive—such as an amendment to ban the IMAC, and another to eliminate a tax on medical equipment (shades of Ezekiel Emanuel's hatred of medical technology). But they don't fit into the Nazi cost-cutting plan.

Senator Harry Reid, who is sinking into unpopularity, made his appearance with Obama today, to promise that a majority of the Senate will indeed pass the reconciliation bill, after the House passes the Senate bill. This promise is widely being compared to the statement by Lucy in the Peanuts comic strip—when she promises that, this time, she really won't remove the football just as Charlie Brown runs up to kick it.

But, that's a secondary point. A House of Representatives vote for the Senate bill is a vote for a Hitler Health bill, which is understood by the majority of the U.S. population, however inchoately, as such. It will lead to an escalating wave of hatred against the Congress and the President, and ungovernability—unless the LaRouche leadership factor directs the process to get the President out of office, and launch the LaRouche Plan.
