LAROUCHEPAC:

Haiti's Preval to Tell Obama: We Must Rebuild All of Haiti, Not Just Port-au-Prince
March 7, 2010 • 10:30AM

When Haitian President Rene Preval meets with Nerobama on March 10 in Washington, he will deliver an urgent message.

"What's most important is the philosophy of reconstruction," Preval has said he will tell Obama. "It's not just reconstruct Port-au-Prince. It's rebuild Haiti." Indicating why Lyndon LaRouche's proposal to impeach Obama and launch a 25-year-long reconstruction program, is the only sane option for Haiti, Preval warned that the rainy season has now begun. "There is an urgency" to act, he said. At least $93 million is needed immediately to fix drainage canals to prevent flooding, as well as to purchase seeds and fertilizers to encourage those who fled the capital to stay in the provinces and begin to farm.

Port-au-Prince is overcrowded, home to hundreds of thousands who over the years fled the provinces and a farm sector destroyed and rendered barren by fascist globalization and free trade policies. "We need to put jobs in the provinces and for that, you need roads, electricity, education, and health," he said.

The insane policy of keeping people in the capital, thanks to Obama's criminal refusal to relocate 1.1 million people to higher ground, guarantees a health holocaust. In a brief interview with Fox News this morning, Bill Clinton warned that the failure to provide sufficient numbers of toilets and latrines will mean that "we could have a huge second wave of casualties," with epidemics of diarrhea, dysentery, cholera, and tetanus.

Therese Dooley, a senior adviser to Unicef, warned that "once the rains come, the feces will flow everywhere. A gram of feces contains billions of bacteria and pathogens. What you have to worry about is them getting into the food chain and the mouth."
