NYC Class 02.13.10: A Modern CCC to Replace Today's MYSPACE Culture
February 22nd, 2010 • 11:00 PM

The centerpiece of the LaRouche Plan for economic recovery in the United States is the proposal for a modern, expanded version of Franklin Roosevelt's Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) program, which put millions of young people to work rebuilding the nation. Diana Wong gives a conceptual overview and a vivid anecdotal account of the original CCC, and its role in upgrading the morale and cognitive potential of a youth generation which helped secure the foundation for victory in war, and prosperity in peace. Afterward, Oyang Teng presents the unique cultural challenge facing today's youth, embodied in the soul-deadening paradigm of social networking, video games, and post-industrial "values," and the role a modern CCC—in the context of a long-term Mars mission—will play in transforming the generation.
