LAROUCHEPAC:

China-Zimbabwe Deals Show Potential for World Development of LaRouche's Four-Power Agreement
November 21, 2009 • 10:36AM

China announced $8 billion in investment deals with Zimbabwe on Nov. 19, the day after Obama left China. This is the single largest foreign direct investment to Zimbabwe since the February formation of the Zimbabwe Unity government. The combination of five investment deals is a blow to Obama, because he has slavishly continued to follow the British policy of maintaining sanctions and refusing to collaborate with Zimbabwe's government, to rebuild its economy. By implementing what Zimbabwe officials refer to as the "Look East Policy" adopted by the government 4 years ago, Zimbabwe is now orienting toward the new Asian-Pacific center of world development, which is a reflection of what Lyndon LaRouche has been emphasizing about the Pacific orientation required for Africa in this period.

When the Unity government Prime Minister, Morgan Tsvangirai, visited Obama as the head of a Unity government delegation June 12, Obama offered peanuts, and, plantation style, would not allow a Zanu (Mugabe's party) member of the delegation to attend the meeting. Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and President Mugabe held bilateral talks concerning this investment package at the recent China-Africa Cooperation summit in Egypt, and China chose the day after Obama's departure from China to announce the deals, a clear message to British Africa policy of destabilization and economic warfare, a message that will not be lost on Africa. A Zimbabwe official expressed hope that this collaboration would continue, so that Zimbabwe could regain its status as the "Jewel of Africa."

Earlier this year, China had provided nearly $6 billion to Zimbabwe, after Western nations had refused Tsvangirai's requests.
