LAROUCHEPAC:
In his Nov. 11th international webcast, Lyndon LaRouche responded to a question on the prospects for achieving a new era of economic development through his proposed Four Power agreement, by blasting the institutions which have taken away the sovereignty of all nations, through globalization. Exemplary, LaRouche said, is the grain cartel Cargill.
"There is no such thing as any independent nation on this planet! If you're not prepared to destroy Cargill, you don't have independence," LaRouche said. "If you don't look at the firms that control your food supplies on this planet, and go in there with, if necessary, with troops, and straighten them out, you're not going to have a food supply. You need an authoritative international force, composed of sovereign nation-states, but an effective force which is powerful enough to go in and shut down Cargill. Otherwise, you don't have a chance!
"You're in a globalized system. What's a globalized system? It's an empire! You tolerated Cargill! You tolerated similar kinds of firms. You tolerated globalization, and you thought you were smart. You had legislators who did that in country after country. You talked about globalization; the Tower of Babel back again, with similar results promised, for now. That's the issue!"
This global empire can only be crushed by an agreement between sovereign nation statements powerful enough to do so, specifically the U.S., China, India, and Russia.
In using the example of the Cargill grain cartel, LaRouche referenced the profile provided by his wife, Helga Zepp-LaRouche, in her recent webcast. As an international processor and purchaser of grains and meat, Cargill runs a global operation that controls the food supply of many of the world's nations, thus eliminating their sovereignty over the most basic requirement for all nations — food. This private firm has 98,000 employees, and operates in 61 countries. It is the largest grain trader in the world, the largest processer of oil seeds, of malting barley, and it controls one-fourth of world grain production.
On top of its direct operations, which allow it to control prices and supplies, Cargill also has joint ventures and strategic alliances with other cartels, like the seed company Monsanto.
