March 1, 2008 (LPAC)--Over the last week there have been several reports of a potential Bloomberg Vice Presidency on either a Republican ticket under McCain, or a Democratic ticket under Obama. These reports do seem a bit dubious and fishy, and LPAC will be following this story closely.
On Thursday, Feb. 28, the same day Bloomberg's New York Times op-ed appeared, the New York Daily News ran a fawning column by Josh Greenman of its editorial board, titled "Barack Obama's Dream Ticket: Mike Bloomberg for Vice President."
On Friday, John Gambling asked Bloomberg whether he wanted the Vice Presidency in his weekly radio interview with the mayor. "Nobody is going to ask me, John," Bloomberg replied, careful not to deny that he wanted the job.
That same day, Bloomberg's Deputy Mayor Kevin Sheekey, who had prepared his potential 50-state third party Presidential bid, revealed in an interview on "Inside City Hall," that Obama had telephoned Bloomberg on Thursday. Sheekey openly promoted an Obama-Bloomberg Presidential ticket.
