Bloomingdale, Illinois Dems Call For Mortgage Relief

October 18, 2007 (LPAC)--After much ass-kicking, Dean Cooper, a member of the Bloomingdale, IL Township Democratic Party Organization(and an LPAC member) managed to pass this short resolution. He is, of course, not satisfied with this "pansy version" of the Homeowner and Bank Protection Act, and seeks to pass the full HOBPA in his county Democratic Party organization (DuPage County).

Printed below is a press release, including the text of the resolution.

Bloomingdale Dems Call For Mortgage Relief

The Bloomingdale Township Democratic Organization unanimously passed a resolution calling for the Illinois Congressional delegation to take the lead in creating governmental institutions whose purpose is to direct credit to keep people in their homes during the current crises in the home loan industry.

“Home ownership has been the American dream for generations” said Chairman Pete Null. “Now, millions of middle class Americans throughout our country are having this dream taken away from them”.

The full text of the resolution reads as follows:

Resolution on the Housing Crisis

Whereas, keeping people in their homes and preventing predatory lending practices are values long supported by the Democratic Party, and which values are implicit in the rights established in the general welfare clause in the Preamble of our Constitution; and

Whereas, The onrushing financial crisis engulfing home mortgages and the banking system of the United States threatens to set off an economic depression. Millions of American citizens are threatened with foreclosure and loss of their homes due to a financial crisis that threatens the integrity of both state and federally chartered banks. Such a banking collapse would wipe out the life savings of American citizens and undermine the economic stability of our nation;

Therefore be it resolved, that the Bloomingdale Township Democratic Organization advises the Illinois U.S. Congressional delegation to lead the way in creating governmental institutions whose purpose is to direct credit to keep people in their homes.

Be it further resolved, that the Bloomingdale Township Democratic Organization advises the Illinois U.S. Congressional delegation to introduce legislation that would prevent and or mitigate against a global financial crisis.

The Bloomingdale Township Democratic Organization stands for the advancement of better government for the people through the selection and support of outstanding citizens for elective offices at the county, state and federal levels of government.
