One in Six U.S. Homeowners Fear Foreclosure as the Filings Skyrocket in Massachusetts

October 3, 2007 (LPAC)--One in six American homeowners are afraid that they will face foreclosure, according to a new survey conducted by Housing Predictor, a real estate forecast firm.

In Massachusettts, a record level of foreclosure filings are expected in the third quarter of 2007. The latest report from ForeclosuresMass.com shows that foreclosures over the past 12 months through July were widespread--rising in 303 of the state's 351 communities, at least doubling in 102 cities and towns, and a total of 220 towns suffered at least 50% increases. The study forecasts over 7,000 new foreclosure filings statewide during July, August and September; already in July some 2,483 foreclosures were filed, a monthly record. From Aug 1, 2006 through July 31, 2007 a whopping 25,660 foreclosures were filed, 70% higher than a year earlier. "The foreclosure crisis has no boundaries," asserted the firm's president.
