LaRouche Youth Supporters Pay Homage to Jose Lopez Portillo Today

October 1, 2007 (LPAC)--Today is the 25th anniversary of Mexican President Jose Lopez Portillo's historic call for a New World Economic Order before the United Nations General Assembly in 1982, and the LaRouche Youth Movement in Ibero-America is celebrating the occasion by organizing their countrymen to emulate Lopez Portillo's courage, and join with Lyndon LaRouche to bring about a new international financial system today. Lopez Portillo's statement in 1982--"the place is here, and the time is now"--to change history before civilization collapses in a New Dark Ages, applies today. (See: Portilla video)

For the occasion, the LYM issued a special issue of its electronic PDF publication, Prometeo, #14, now circulating around the continent, titled a "Youth Homage to Jose Lopez Portillo--25 Years Later." "We are paying homage to then President Jose Lopez Portillo for the courage he had to confront international financial interests ready to destroy our economies," it says.

As the LYM points out in Prometeo, the youth of today need to know what Lopez Portillo, the last great President of Mexico (1976-1982) actually did, because they have only heard slanders generated by the financiers who hate him because he fought to transform Mexico into a modern agro-industrial nation, and fought publicly with LaRouche to bring about the just international economic order required for that project to succeed.

In his honor, the LYM in Buenos Aires will hold a conference today on LaRouche's solution to the terminal character of the Global Financial System Crisis, in the Annex of the Argentine Congress. A DVD with Lopez Portillo's U.N. speech will be shown, and there will be presentations from Mexico City and from LaRouche's headquarters in Virginia.

Simultaneously, the LYM in Mexico City is deploying all day at the Juarez Monument, where they are broadcasting the UN speech over loudspeakers, and distributing Prometeo.
