October 1, 2007 (LPAC)--In a flight from reality and, in what Lyndon LaRouche describes as an action directly opposed to his Homeowners and Bank Protection Act (HBPA) of 2007, Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) introduced the American Home Ownership Protection Act on Friday September 28, 2007. Clinton's website describes it: "The legislation contains a number of proposals that would regulate unscrupulous mortgage brokers, empower borrowers with better disclosure about their mortgages and better information on their mortgage professionals, and eliminate the worst elements of abusive mortgage products. Moreover, the legislation would set aside funding to help supplement foreclosure relief and prevention efforts at the state and local level and help support affordable housing funds throughout the country." The legislation also includes expanding the foreclosure prevention efforts of both Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Senator Clinton lies that with such steps the legislation she is proposing would "help restore consumer confidence in the housing market and curb the abusive lending practices and mortgage products that helped spawn the current crisis." As LaRouche commented, the proposed legislation is a fraud. What is needed is a total freeze of all existing home mortgages, protecting homeowners as well as Federal and state chartered banks.
