September 14, 2007 (LPAC)--Alexis Debat, the former ABC "counter-terrorism" consultant who claimed two weeks ago that the United States had prepared a three-day bombing blitz against Iran, has been exposed as a faker of numerous interviews with prominent figures. Debat was also a visiting professor at Vermont's Middlebury College, where financier Felix Rohatyn pushes his fascist economic schemes. Even on this credential, war-plans expert Debat lied, claiming a full professorship, according to a former Washington correspondent for France's Liberation newspaper.
Debat's most recent public appearance was in a Sunday Times London article on Sept. 2, in which he claimed that the U.S. Pentagon is planning a three-day blitz of massive airstrikes against 1,200 targets in Iran. Billed as the "director of terrorism and national security" at the Nixon Center in Washington, Debat was quoted as saying that that U.S. military planners are not preparing for "pinprick" strikes against Iran's nuclear facilities: "They're about taking out the entire Iranian military."
According to ABC News and other sources, the growing list of people who say they were the subjects of fake interviews published under Debat's by-line in the French journal Politique Internationale, now includes Bill Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Alan Greenspan, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Bill Gates and Kofi Annan.
This whole affair has an aroma which reminds us of the case of another faker from France who haunts many of the same U.S. think tanks and magazines as Debat, that being Laurent Murawiec.
