Ohio Foreclosure Prevention Task Force Recommends Rearranging the Chairs on the Deck of the Titanic

September 11, 2007 (LPAC)--The Ohio Foreclosure Prevention Task Force appointed by Governor Strickland in March has released a final report recommending nothing of relevance to the crisis in the state.

According to the Executive Summary, the report makes 27 band-aid style recommendations including encouraging borrowers facing foreclosure to get early help, expanding housing counseling and intervention services, working with lenders and servicers to maximize alternatives to foreclosure, and providing options for homeowners to refinance or restructure their mortgages. All to be administered at the state level on a 10 million dollar budget.

The obvious poverty of these recommendations should intensify the interest in LaRouche's Homeowners and Bank Protection Act, which has already been made available through LYM deployments to the Governor, Ohio state legislators and other key political figures, with opportunities ahead for further organizing as the Governor reviews the Task Force recommendations and the state legislature sets hearings on the plan.
