Court Moves to Suspend Libby's Law License

September 11, 2007 (LPAC)--The Pennsylvania Supreme Court is moving to suspend the law license of Dick Cheney's former chief of staff Lewis Libby. The court issued a "Rule to Show Cause" on Sept. 7, requiring Libby to demonstrate why his license should not be suspended as a result of his convictions for perjury and obstruction of justice in the Valerie Plame Wilson case. Although President Bush commuted Libby's 30-month prison sentence, Libby's convictions still stand; he has already paid a $250,000 fine, and he must be on supervised release (a form of probation) for two years.

AP reports also that Libby's license to practice law in the District of Columbia was suspended in April, and the D.C. Board on Professional Responsibility recommended that Libby be disbarred if his conviction is upheld on appeal.
