Governor Strickland Receives a Message, LYM in Ohio Brief Governor Strickland About LaRouche's HBPA

August 30, 2007 (LPAC)--The Midwest LYM organized at three events today that were addressed by Ohio Governor Ted Strickland, giving him and his aid a copy of LaRouche's Homeowners and Banking Protection Act, and briefing them, and several other elected officials about the housing crisis, LaRouche's solution, and the question of Federal intervention. They also organized the crowds that were at these events.

One of our organizers took a walk with Strickland at the Ohio State Fair grounds, where he did not deny that the crisis is of a systemic nature. He talked about his own efforts to fix the problem by creating a housing committee that will be gathering suggestions from different groups. He then referred us to his aid, who gave his card and suggested that we submit Lyn's HBPA to this commission, which we have the intention to do. The aid pointed out that there were Congressmen present, and since we were talking about federal intervention, we should try to talk to them.

So that's what we did. We were able to brief one congressman extensively about the housing resolution and the responses we've been getting to our mobilization around the country. An Ohio state representative listened in, and also engaged in the discussion. When briefed on the details of moratorium and the governor's role in oversight, the congressman replied, "Strickland would be great at that."
