August 28, 2007 (LPAC)--Bloomberg.org reporting on a new study by the U.S. Census Bureau notes that forty-seven million Americans went without health insurance in 2006, an increase of 2.2 million people from the year before. For the second year in a row, the percentage of children without medical coverage increased. The Census Bureau estimates 8.7 million children or 11.7 percent had no insurance. Once again President Bush's home state of Texas has the highest rate of uninsured in the country with 24 percent of its population without coverage. No state had less than 9% of its population uninsured.
